Men’s Health Active Champion 2019

Men’s Health Active Champion

Men’s Health active overview:
On March 7th we are launching a new campaign, “Men’s Health Active”, which will be delivered between March and June, 2019.

Targeting the male student population who are conscious of their mental health, the initiative will focus on sport, physical activity and social connectivity to aid a positive mindset. Helping to produce proactive mechanisms for male students to manage their mental health and wellbeing, there will be a launch event followed by a 5-week programme. This program will offer inclusive sport and physical activity sessions, supported by “talk shops”, providing students with a safe place to talk and create a safe environment where a sense of belonging and connection is created.

At present, we have appointed two Student Ambassadors who will be managing the logistics of the Men’s Health Active Campaign whilst liaising with students, managing marketing and reporting outcomes. Following vast interest in these roles, we would now like to form a team of volunteers (also known as Champions) to assist with the campaign.
Summary of role:
•Support the delivery of the launch night and the 6-week programme
•Support the students who join the program
•Positively spread the word of the campaign to peers and associates across the university
•Develop positive working links with the ambassadors, other volunteers, sports clubs and the other key players in order to successfully deliver the campaign
•Regularly report back to the MHA and Disability Sport ambassadors, the Disability Sport Officer and Sports Participation Development Officer.
•Provide critical thinking and feedback on all aspects of the program

It was really well organised. It was such a rewarding experience as we started off teaching a class of children who had no idea what volleyball was or how to play it, but after 6 or so weeks, they could have a mini game. It was so encouraging to see how much they improved and how quick most of them picked u the sport.

Though a little crowded, is a good session with enthusiastic kids and support is provided from the school so the kids are well behaved

A well run scheme, the school was supportive and helped with the delivery significantly by managing the kids well
